Copyright / DMCA Policy

VideoDL respects the intellectual property rights of others, and expects its users to do the same. Although the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") does not directly bind us, we voluntarily follow a DMCA-style process and will respond promptly to good-faith claims of copyright infringement involving our Service, wherever you are located.

1. How Our Service Works

VideoDL provides an API that enables users to download publicly available video and audio content from YouTube. We act as a technical intermediary, we do not host, store, index, or control the content that users download. Content is delivered directly from public sources to the user's designated cloud storage.

We do not select, curate, or recommend specific content for download. Users independently specify which publicly available videos they wish to download by providing video IDs.

2. Designated DMCA Agent

If you believe that content processed through our Service infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice to our designated agent:

3. Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice

To be effective, a DMCA takedown notice must be a written communication that includes the following:

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work, A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed, or a representative list if multiple works are involved.
  2. Identification of the infringing material, Identification of the material that you claim is infringing, including the YouTube video URL(s) or video ID(s) involved, and sufficient detail to allow us to locate the material.
  3. Your contact information, Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  4. Good faith statement, A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. Accuracy statement, A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner.
  6. Signature, A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent.

4. Our Response to Valid Notices

Upon receiving a valid DMCA takedown notice, we will:

Note: Because we do not host or store downloaded content, we cannot remove content that has already been delivered to a user's cloud storage. Our action is limited to preventing future downloads of the identified content through our Service.

5. Counter-Notification

If you believe that content was blocked in error or that you have authorization to use the content, you may submit a counter-notification to our DMCA Agent that includes:

  1. Your name, address, and telephone number.
  2. Identification of the material that was blocked and the video ID(s) involved.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was blocked as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the competent courts where VideoDL is operated (or, if you are located elsewhere, the courts of your place of residence) and that you will accept service of process from the party who submitted the original complaint.
  5. Your physical or electronic signature.

Upon receipt of a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the original complainant and restore access to the identified content within 10–14 business days, unless the complainant files a court action.

6. Repeat Infringer Policy

In accordance with the DMCA, we maintain a policy to terminate accounts of users who are repeat infringers. Users who receive multiple valid DMCA notices will have their accounts reviewed and may be suspended or permanently terminated at our discretion.

7. Misrepresentation Warning

Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that material was removed by mistake, may be subject to liability for damages, including costs and attorney's fees. Please ensure that your DMCA notice or counter-notification is accurate before submitting.
